SousChef Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 2, 2026

This policy explains how El Vero LLC (Vero North) handles information when you use SousChef – Master Timer on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, and when you contact us for support.

Designed around your devices

SousChef does not require a SousChef account. Meal plans, foods, cooking schedules, saved templates, imported recipe drafts, preferences, and purchase entitlements are used to provide the app’s features. We do not operate a server that receives your meal plans or recipe drafts.

The app does not include advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs. It uses Sentry for crash reporting and performance diagnostics, as described below. We do not sell your personal information or use your meal information for advertising.

Crash reports and performance diagnostics

SousChef uses Sentry to receive crash reports, performance measurements, and other technical diagnostic data so we can find errors and improve app reliability. Reports may include stack traces, app and operating-system versions, device characteristics, and technical breadcrumbs such as network request information. Performance traces are sampled rather than recorded for every operation.

We use this information for app functionality, including reducing crashes and improving performance. We do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking. The app disables Sentry’s default personal-information collection and does not assign an account identity to diagnostic reports. We do not attempt to link diagnostic reports to your identity.

Diagnostic information is processed by Sentry on our behalf. See Sentry’s Privacy Policy for information about its services. Contact info@vero-north.com with privacy questions or requests about diagnostic information; please do not include sensitive information in your request.

Local storage, iCloud, and Apple Watch

SousChef stores meal information and preferences on your devices. The app and its widgets and share extension use shared app storage so they can display your current meal and transfer recipe drafts into the app.

Saved meal templates can sync through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage when iCloud is available. Apple processes that information under your Apple Account and iCloud settings. Active meal information is also transferred between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch so the Watch app and complications can show your cooking progress.

Recipe imports and on-device processing

When you share a recipe webpage to SousChef, the app processes the shared webpage, URL, and recipe text to create a draft for your review. It may request the webpage directly from its publisher. That website receives normal connection information, such as your IP address and the requested page, under its own privacy policy.

Where available, SousChef uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models to interpret meal descriptions or recipe text. SousChef does not send that text to a developer-operated AI service. Siri requests are handled by Apple under your Siri settings and Apple’s policies.

Notifications, alarms, and Bluetooth

With your permission, SousChef schedules local cooking notifications and alarms. Live Activities and widgets may show meal names and cooking progress on your screen, including the Lock Screen. You can control these features through the app and your device settings.

If you use thermometer connectivity, Bluetooth is used to discover and connect to a probe and process its identifier, name, temperature readings, and the food you assign to it. This information supports cooking progress and timing on your device. Bluetooth access can be changed in device settings.

Purchases

Apple handles App Store payments. SousChef uses Apple’s StoreKit purchase and entitlement information to unlock purchased catalog packs and restore access. We do not receive your payment-card details. Apple’s purchase, billing, and privacy policies apply to transactions.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments or device details you choose to send. We use that information to respond, troubleshoot, and manage the support request. Email is processed by the services used to deliver and manage our correspondence. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or information you do not want included in a support request.

Support correspondence may remain in our email records while needed to handle your request and related follow-up. You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent us, subject to applicable recordkeeping requirements.

Your controls and deletion

You can edit or remove meals and templates in the app and manage notification, alarm, Bluetooth, Siri, and iCloud access through Apple’s settings. Deleting the app removes its local app data, but synced copies, backups, data on other devices, and Apple’s purchase records may remain. Manage those separately through the relevant device, iCloud, or Apple Account settings. Removing local data does not automatically erase copies on other devices.
